Do I need to obtain a student visa to study at Target International Student Center?
Students interested in obtaining an F-1 student visa will be committed by federal law to study full time(minimum of 18 hours a week) at Target International Student Center. In order to obtain F-1 student visa, student should have I-20 form issued by Target International Student Center. If you are interested in studying 16 hours or less, and your country allows you to enter the US without a visa, please apply for Visa Waiver Program-WVP. Please be aware that if your first priority is to study full-time in the U.S., you should apply for an F-1 student visa. See our section on F-1 visas processing if your primary purpose is to study full time in the U.S.
What is a I-20 form?
Form I-20 shows that you are eligible for F-1 Student status. It is issued by Target International Student Center; together with your Form I-94 it indicates how long you can remain in the United States. Students in valid F-1 status are allowed to remain in the U.S. until the completion of studies.
Can I extend my I-20 after my arrival?
If you will like to extend your studies at Target International Student Center, please inform School Adviser prior to I-20 expiration date listed on Section 5 on your form I-20.
What is SEVIS?
SEVIS stands for Student and Exchange Visitor Information System. It is a Department of Homeland Security internet electronic monitor system for international students
What is the Visa Waiver Program – VWP?
The VWP allows 36 countries to travel to the United States for tourism or business purposes of maximum stay of 90 days without obtaining a visa. Please see below countries that are eligible for this program:

If your country is not eligible for the Visa Waiver Program-VWP you can apply for B-1/B-2 Visitor Visa to study at Target International Student Center for 16 hours or less.
How to apply for Visitor Visa B-1/B-2?
Each applicant must submit a copy of passport, DS-160 form and one photograph 2x2. In order to qualify under the Immigration and Nationality Act you must inform consulate interviewer:
- Your purpose of the trip. (business, pleasure or medical treat)
- Proof of time planned to stay in the U.S
- Proof of financial funds to comply with expenses during your stay in the U.S
- Proof of housing and additional ties in your home country.
Do I need health insurance to study at Target International Student Center
International student caring F-1 visa are required by immigration and Massachusetts law to apply for health insurance before entering the United States. Students will not be allowed to attend class without proof of health insurance prior to start date.
How can I get my Massachusetts drivers licenses?
If you've applied to study at Target International Student Center for more than a year, please be aware that the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicle requires you to obtain a Massachusetts' drivers license within 30 days of obtaining a car.
Schedule a day after classes and visit the nearest RMV with the following documents:
- Stamped I-20
- Proof of residence in Massachusetts
- Social Security number (if you are not eligible to obtain a social security number, please visit the nearest social security office and obtain a Denial Letter)
If you've applied for homestay through Target International Student Center, inform you student adviser you would like to apply for your Massachusetts drivers licenses. Target School's student adviser will issue a letter to RMV to prove your address.
*Students who applied to study at Target International Student Center for less than one year may use their International Driver's Licenses.
Can I get a social security number with F-1 student Visa?
In order for a F-1 Student to obtain a Social Security number, student must have an on campus employment at Target International Student Center or off campus employment authorized by U.S Citizenship and Immigration. Dependents (F-2 ) cannot obtain a Social Security number because they are not eligible for employment at Target International Student Center.
How can I apply to work for Target International Student Center?
Throughout the year Target International Student Center may have availability for F-1 student holders to work on campus. Please submit a request and Target International Student Center will inform you in 3-5 business day if we have employment availability.
